ETC Press

At Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) Press, I transformed an experimental academic publishing initiative into a robust digital-first ecosystem through progressive leadership roles spanning from Editor to Editorial Director (2006-2023). My project management expertise streamlined editorial workflows for over 300 authors across four continents, creating standardized processes that maintained academic rigor while embracing innovative formats. This strategic approach enabled us to triple our annual publishing output from 15 to 45 titles.
The foundation of this growth was my implementation of comprehensive metadata strategies, analytics frameworks, and budget systems that optimized our multi-platform digital infrastructure. As managing editor and later director, I preserved our commitment to open access while establishing strategic partnerships with organizations like the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), positioning ETC Press as a leader in games and entertainment scholarship through deliberate content strategy initiatives.
The ETC Press project exemplifies balanced publishing leadership through content strategy innovation, author-centered workflow management, data-driven decision-making, and strategic vision. By creating systems prioritizing both accessibility and academic standards, we developed a publishing model that influences how scholarly content reaches diverse global audiences in the digital age.
