Room to Imagine: Celebrating 125 Years at Carnegie Mellon University
I wrote and edited all the content for the Room to Imagine exhibit and the 16-page newspaper we produced exploring the history of innovation at Carnegie Mellon. I also wrote all the content for the Bloomberg Connect mobile experience. I planned and wrote the site’s social content, including internal promotion, news articles, and more than 40 Instagram, Threads, and LinkedIn posts. I wrote the video script for the teaser video for the university’s central marketing promotion. In addition to my editorial duties, I managed the exhibit process, including collaborations with the university’s central marketing team and archivists.
Room to Imagine transforms the familiar college dorm room into a showcase of Carnegie Mellon innovation, revealing how CMU breakthroughs permeate our daily lives. Step into this immersive space and discover the extraordinary connections between everyday objects and world-changing discoveries—from the iPhone interface designed by CMU alumnus Freddy Anzures to the Duolingo app created by Luis von Ahn, from Toy Story‘s computer animation pioneered by Ralph Guggenheim to the Silly Putty that emerged from Earl Warrick’s chemistry research.
Carnegie Mellon’s legacy of interdisciplinary collaboration has continuously shaped how we experience the world. Andy Warhol’s pop art revolution redefined modern culture, while Professor Alex Hills’ wireless networks enabled our connected age. Stephen Schwartz’s compositions fill Broadway theaters, and sophisticated algorithms developed at CMU secure our online communications.
This immersive exhibit celebrates 125 years of CMU students, faculty, and staff who turned their imagination into reality.
